About Dreamboat Sound
Dreamboat Sound answers one question people get wrong all the time: are you trying to stop noise, or just cut echo? Those are two different jobs. Foam and fabric panels are great at the second one and close to useless at the first. Every page here keeps the two apart.
Where the numbers come from
Every NRC rating, STC rating, weight and price on this site either links to where it came from or is worked out on the page from a number that does. Mostly that means manufacturer data sheets and lab test reports, from companies like USG, Owens Corning, Auralex, Primacoustic, PABCO, Johns Manville and Rockwool. The rest comes from standards bodies, government agencies and universities, such as the FHWA, the WHO, NIST and MIT.
If a number doesn't have a source, it doesn't go on the page. When a source only tested one setup, the page says so instead of stretching the result to cover everything.
The numbers are published test results, not our own measurements. Where we'd like to add a hands-on test of our own, we'll say clearly that it's ours and how we ran it.
How the site makes money
Right now it doesn't. There are no affiliate links, no ads and no sponsored placements. Product names show up because their test data is public and useful, not because anyone paid for the mention. If that ever changes, this page will say so first, and paid links will be labeled where they appear.
